The hashtag #GrowingUpWithBraces was recently trending on social media, with users lamenting about their memories of having to wear braces as a kid. But despite the jokes about the struggle of having to wear bands and dealing with the pain of having them tightened, most people who have had braces as a kid are thankful they did. They know that a straight, beautiful smile is worth it!
Luckily, many of those “horror stories” are a thing of the past, thanks to major advancements and improvements in braces today, and the availability of other options to straighten teeth (Invisalign, anyone?). Orthodontic treatment isn’t something to dread anymore. Getting braces today as opposed to years ago involves improved appliances that cause less pressure and much less pain as well as typically shorter treatment time.
Damon Braces
At Molen Orthodontics, we offer Damon braces and Damon clear braces, which are far more superior to the bulky, uncomfortable braces from years ago. With traditional braces, the wires are attached to the tooth brackets by elastic ligatures, and there is much more pressure and discomfort required to move the teeth into the desired position. But Damon braces are “self-litigating,” meaning that the brackets themselves have doors that hold the wires in place, away from the teeth (and with much less pressure). Damon braces will give patients a beautifully aligned smile, as comfortably and efficiently as possible. Molen Orthodontics has extensive experience with the Damon braces system, and rely on the incredible advancements they’ve made in orthodontic technology to treat even cases that were considered “untreatable” by other practitioners, without extracting healthy teeth. Less pain, more efficient, and no annoying rubber bands? “Growing up with braces” doesn’t sound so bad after all!
Invisalign
And straightening teeth today can often be done without traditional braces – it can be achieved using the increasingly popular Invisalign aligners. Unlike traditional braces that use wires and brackets, Invisalign is the “invisible” way to straighten teeth, using a series of clear, smooth, comfortable plastic aligners that you wear for at least 22 hours every day. The custom-made aligners gradually straighten the teeth into their optimal position. They’re so discreet, people may not even realize you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment!
With Molen Orthodontics giving you the best treatment possible, #GrowingUpWithBraces (or Invisalign) can be a positive experience – and one you’ll be so grateful for once you can show off that straight, dazzling smile!
