The Different Types of Braces for Teeth

As technology continues to evolve, so too have orthodontic treatment options. Gone are the days of intrusive, distracting metal braces and uncomfortable headgear. Instead patients have a number of effective, far more comfortable types of braces to choose from for their teeth, like the Damon braces system that we use here at Molen Orthodontics.

Exploring Braces for Teeth

When it comes to braces, as we said earlier, you’re no longer limited to bulky, uncomfortable treatments of the past. Instead, when you choose Molen Orthodontics, you’ll have access to a variety of braces options that will fit your lifestyle and needs. Our orthodontic experts prefer to use the Damon Braces system as they allow us to create a more natural looking smile.

Damon Braces

Traditional braces feature wires that are attached to the tooth brackets by elastic ligatures, or “o-rings”. This setup slowly moves teeth into alignment, but also puts a lot of pressure on patients, resulting in discomfort at the beginning of treatment and after an adjustment.

Damon Braces, on the other hand, are self-ligating. This means that each bracket has a “door” that holds your wires in place, slightly away from your teeth. With wires that don’t press directly against the teeth, Damon Braces are able to move teeth into a more optimal position with much less pressure. In addition to greater comfort, Damon Braces result in easier care, fewer visits to our offices, and quicker overall treatment results.

Damon Clear Braces

Damon Clear Braces, just like Damon Braces, are self-ligating, reducing friction and putting less-pressure on your teeth. The major difference between the two is that Damon Clear Braces feature stain-resistant brackets that are smooth, comfortable, and nearly undetectable because they're made from a high quality clear material. If you’re a patient that wants a discreet treatment option, Damon Clear Braces are a great choice for you.

Beyond Braces

While braces are the most well known orthodontic treatment option, they’re certainly not the only treatment option. Molen Orthodontics also offers Invisalign treatment, which uses completely transparent aligners to move your teeth into their desired positions. These aligners can be removed, meaning you won’t have to worry about damage when playing sports, or about what foods you’re eating while undergoing treatment.

Which Braces are Right for Your Teeth?

With multiple options available to you, the reality of the situation is that the best braces for your teeth will come down to a matter of preference, as well as the complexity of your case. When you choose Molen Orthodontics, our talented orthodontists will design a treatment plan to complement your natural features and bring your inner beauty to the outside, instead of creating a flat smile so common with traditional orthodontic techniques.

Of course, the first step in determining which braces are right for your teeth is to request a FREE consultation. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have, as well as develop a custom plan for helping you meet your smile goals.
