What are the Main Differences Between Braces and Invisalign

If you’re thinking of beginning orthodontic treatment, there’s no doubt you’ll have a lot of questions about your different options. One of the most common questions we hear from our new patients is “What is the difference between braces and Invisalign?” Both options produce similar results of healthy smiles for patients but they use very different methods to achieve their goals. In this post, we’re going to break down how each of these two treatment methods work, their differences and benefits.

Braces and Invisalign - Which is Right for You?

The reality is that there is no right or wrong answer to this question. It simply comes down to what works best for you. If you have complex treatment needs, traditional braces or Damon Clear Braces might be the best option. On the other hand, if you’re concerned with discretion or want a treatment option that can be removed when required, Invisalign could be ideal for you.

A Look at Braces

Braces are a tried and tested form of orthodontic treatment, but they’ve certainly evolved over the years. Gone are the days of awkward, uncomfortable “train track” braces. Instead, today’s braces are far more comfortable and discreet. As a matter of fact, when you choose Molen Orthodontics, you’ll enjoy progressive, innovative approaches that result in beautiful, natural looking smiles that perfectly complement your natural facial features. We see our role as that of an artist—our paintbrush is the braces we use, and our patients are the canvas.

To give our patients smiles that bring their natural beauty to the surface, we offer two different types of Damon Braces:

  • Damon BracesThese technologically advanced braces provide comfortable, effective treatment. These braces don’t require colored elastics or ties, and make use of memory-shape wires that our skilled orthodontic artists use to build natural, wide-looking smiles with fewer appointments and adjustments.
  • Damon Clear Braces This option is ideal for a patient who may not want anyone to know that they’re undergoing treatment. Damon Clear Braces are made of tooth-colored crystal clear material, offering nearly the same level of treatment as Damon Braces, but in a really difficult to see option.

The Benefits of Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign is the perfect choice for patients who require a less complex orthodontic treatment plan, or who want a more discreet treatment option. With Invisalign, patients wear clear, removable aligner trays that gently move your teeth into their optimum positions. These aligners are worn 22 hours every day and are changed every few weeks. Invisalign trays can be removed when necessary, including during eating or drinking, and also to brush and floss.
